Amos Isaac Elected President: Camp Fire USA

On the evening of 10 December 2004, Dr. Amos Isaac was unanimously  elected as the President of the local unit of the San Andreas Council of the Camp Fire USA.  Dr. Isaac, a board member of the organization for several years, accepted the position to a resounding applause.  He promised, along with the support of the other newly elected officers, to vigorously increase the sponsorship of the club so that even more programs and equipment can be made available to the members.  He will also push for an increase in the numbers of youth participating.   This is just one of many examples of how this esteemed KIWANIAN selflessly gives back to the community.

Camp Fire USA is a co-educational youth agency whose purpose is to provide opportunities for youth to realize their potential to improve those conditions in society which affect youth.  Programs include after-school programs,  camps, sports programs, self-reliance, Teens in Action, computer training, and Family Club.

The program opened with a special flag raising ceremony and recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.  This was followed by a traditional "WOHELO" Ceremony by three of the NAHIKA club members.

CONGRATULATIONS FOR A JOB WELL DONE!

Camp Fire was founded in 1910 by Luther Gulick, M.D., and his wife, Charlotte Gulick, as the first nonsectarian organization for girls in the United States. In 1975, membership was expanded to include boys. Headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., Camp Fire USA currently serves 735,000 children and youth annually.

Camp Fire USA is one of the nation's leading not-for-profit youth development organizations, currently serving 750,000 children and youth annually. Camp Fire USA, with national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., provides all-inclusive, coeducational programs in hundreds of communities across the United States. Founded in 1910, Camp Fire USA's outcome-based programs include youth leadership, self-reliance, after school groups, camping and environmental education and child care.

Serving youth from birth to 21, Camp Fire USA helps boys and girls learn - and play - side by side in comfortable, informal settings. Our coed programs allow parents to consolidate schedules for both their daughters and sons.

As the first nonsectarian, interracial organization for girls in the United States, Camp Fire USA takes pride in its long-standing commitment to providing fun programs and services to all children and families in America. We are inclusive, open to every person in the communities we serve, welcoming children, youth and adults regardless of race, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation or other aspect of diversity. Camp Fire USA's programs are designed and implemented to reduce sex-role, racial and cultural stereotypes and to foster positive intercultural relationships.

Camp Fire USA's mission is to build caring, confident youth and future leaders. For more information, call 816 756 1950 or e-mail
