KIWANIS CLUB OF LOMA LINDA VALLEY

9 October 2005

Every year the City of Loma Linda Chamber of Commerce hosts a community parade and Fair.  The theme for this year’s parade was  “The Spirit of Heroism: The Power of People.”  This, the 42nd Annual Parade, began at 10 AM, started on Anderson Street near Prospect in Loma Linda, and continued  down Anderson to the Loma Linda Academy for the Fair .  This year there was no rain!

Our club was well represented at this parade.  Jack Katzman volunteered his Escalade SUV and trailer to serve as the Kiwanis float.  The SUV and float were decorated with the club banners and balloons proclaiming the Kiwanis motto of "Serving the Children of the World,"  and chairs  were provided for club members to sit as the float progressed down Anderson Street.

Volunteers from the Key Club and Kiwanis members were on site as early as 7 AM to decorate the float and get in line at the assigned position.  Among the club members present were Jack Katzman, Keven Roark, Evan Winter with daughter and dog, Kurt Meyer and wife, Walt Byrns, John Turner and Gay Shenton, Jeff Allen, Ken Daly, Manny Aranda.  The Key Club members and staff from the PAL Academy were present.  The participants seemed to enjoy being part of this parade, and promised to return next year with an even bigger and better presentation.  George Johnston and Ron Griffin took the photos.

Thanks to everyone who worked so diligently on the float and participated in the parade.  This is an excellent way to promote the presence of  the club in the community.
