THE PARK SERVICE OVERLOOK
The route to the overlook is two miles west of the Park Service office along Broadway street. The turn-off is well marked and after making a right turn, the road leads past the U.S. Land Management office and on to the battlefield.

A large sign designates the entrance to the overlook. This areas gives a clear view of the valley and the hills beyond.

There is a large gazebo structure well suited for viewing the areas as well as for giving interpretive talks. An engraved plaque gives a basic graphic description of the positions of the Indians and the troops during the battle.

North of the gazebo is a large granite tablet that is engraved with a brief history of the battle.

A plaque designating this site as a national landmark is also present.
The gazebo area is the starting point for the interpretive trails.
