| Reading is fundamental and the foundation for the Kiwanis participation in classroom activities, tutoring, and arts and crafts activities. Purchasing books to encourage young minds to learn and grow is another key component of the program. The elementary school children eagerly anticipate the interaction with the Kiwanians each week. |

Christmas Tree Gift Donation (Foster Family Network): 2004 This program was highly successful in bringing the spirit of Christmas to many boys and girls last year. Spearheaded by Evan Winter, donated trees were placed in local businesses. Each tree was decorated with a tags designated a "wish list" toy for underprivileged youth. The response from the public was overwhelming. Evan plans an even larger program for this year. |

2005 CANDLELIGHTERS: support for children with cancer:
This yearly Christmas event, held for the first time in the Drayson Center in Loma Linda, consists of arts and crafts, food and entertainment for child cancer victims, their family, and friends. This year Gay and John were assisted by Walt and Stephanie Byrns, Ron Griffin, Evan Winter, Ken Daly, and Renee Osterdock. It was rewarding to see the little faces beaming with pride as they decorated the frames surrounding their pictures. The photos were provided by John Turner's photo maker device. |
